Happy New Year! Hard to believe it’s already 2014. It certainly came in with a freeze with temps bottoming out at -35. Yes, -35. Crazy for this countryside. But thankfully Mother Nature is back on track with snow, sunshine and temps in the low 30’s this weekend. Looking like a great weekend ahead.
This Saturday is Scout Merit Badge day at Ski Brule. Troops pre-registered to participate in this event where Scout members will work towards earning their winter merit badge at Ski Brule. The Scout packages are at a 60% discount to Scouts and their immediate family members. Additional Scout Winter Merit Badge day at Ski Brule include Jan 25 & Mar 29. Cub Scouts can earn their belt loops on Jan 18 (registration required).
It’s also Banker Appreciation Day at Ski Brule on January 12. Are you an employee of the financial industry? Than Banker Appreciation Days are the perfect way to save $$ and enjoy a day on the mountain! Through Sunday is Fireman’s Salute at Ski Brule.

And it’s race day Saturday at Ski Brule. Rhinelander High School host a ski and snowboard event at Ski Brule on Saturday. Events include slalom, giant slalom and boardercross. Welcome racers and family! Whitewater will be closed while race is in progress and Snowshoe / Rapids will be closed temporarily Saturday morning for the boardercross event. If you’ve not seen a boardercross event live … I highly recommend you watch along the course. It’s amazing!
Olympics are coming soon and I can’t wait! Sad to hear Lindsay Vonn won’t participate but hopefully we’ll see her there as a commentator and cheering her teammates on. I recently watched the P&G Thank You Mom Olympic promotional video. I have to say it might just be the best promo spot I’ve seen. Behind every great athlete is a Mom waiting to pick them back up.
