SKIWee is designed for children ages 4 and up and combines ski instruction with games, activities and plenty of fun. Our goal is to help young skiers become comfortable on the snow, learn basic skiing skills and build confidence in an environment created especially for kids.

Learning to Ski at Ski Brule
A child’s first day on skis is a big adventure. SKIWee children ski lessons introduce skiing one step at a time, helping young skiers become comfortable with their equipment before progressing to the mountain.
Lessons begin on Gentle Ben, the Ski Brule Kid’s Center beginner learning area. This kid-friendly setting gives children room to practice the fundamentals while gaining confidence at their own pace.
During their lesson, children learn important beginner skills including walking and sliding on skis, stopping, using the rope tow, carrying their equipment and getting back up after a fall.
By the end of a SKIWee session, many children have developed the confidence and basic skills needed to begin exploring Ski Brule’s Bunny Trail.

SKIWee isn’t just about instruction. It’s about making a child’s first experiences on snow something they’ll want to do again.
Between ski activities, kids can enjoy skiing games, slides, the Moonbounce and indoor warm-up breaks—sometimes complete with a hot chocolate mustache!
Combining instruction with play keeps young skiers engaged and makes learning feel less like a lesson and more like an adventure.

Minimum age for SKIWee children ski lessons: 4 years old.
SKIWee is offered Thursday through Sunday, December 18–January 3, January 18 and February 15, subject to the Ski Brule operating schedule.
A minimum 24-hour advance reservation is required for Thursday and Friday sessions and during early and late season. Reservations are generally not required Saturdays and Sundays except during early and late season.

What Should My Child Wear for Ski Lessons?
Warm and dry kids are happier skiers!
For a comfortable day of children ski lessons, dress your child for Upper Peninsula winter weather. We recommend a helmet-compatible hat, goggles or sunglasses, waterproof snow pants, winter jacket, waterproof gloves or mittens, neck warmer or balaclava and warm ski socks.
Please avoid knit gloves and scarves.
Need something before the lesson? Stop by Bear’s Den Pro Shop or the Ski Brule Rental Center for many of the winter essentials your child may need.
Ski Socks Make a Difference
The right socks can make a surprisingly big difference in your child’s comfort.
Choose one pair of wool or synthetic ski socks that extend to approximately mid-calf or higher. Avoid cotton, short or bulky socks, and don’t layer multiple pairs.
Wool and synthetic materials manage moisture better than cotton and can help keep your child’s feet warm and comfortable throughout the day.
Children’s Ski Rental Equipment
Children participating in SKIWee children ski lessons can rent equipment through the Kid’s Center or Ski Brule Rental Center.

A helmet is provided during the SKIWee lesson session. If your child would like to continue using the helmet after the program, helmet rental is available for $10. A helmet is already included with a Ski Brule ski rental package.
Timesaver Tip: Arriving the evening before your ski day? If the Rental Center is open, get your child’s equipment fitted and rented for the following day. You’ll spend less time getting ready in the morning and more time skiing.

Ski Brule offers private ski and snowboard lessons for beginner, intermediate and advanced children. One-on-one instruction allows the instructor to focus on your child’s ability, confidence and individual goals.
Lesson times are available at 9:30 AM, 10:45 AM, 12:00 PM, 1:15 PM and 2:30 PM.
