This is more than a day on the mountain—it’s an opportunity to ride alongside an Olympic champion and celebrate a story built on heart, determination and the courage to never give up.
Ski Brule is incredibly proud to welcome Iron River native, five-time Olympian and Olympic Gold Medalist Nick Baumgartner for three unforgettable days of riding, photos, autographs and memories.
Nick is no stranger to the slopes at Ski Brule and can occasionally be found riding here throughout the season. These three special event days, however, give guests a dedicated opportunity to ride with him, take pictures and personally meet the hometown athlete who carried his U.P. roots all the way to the Olympic podium.
Nick captured Olympic gold alongside Lindsey Jacobellis in mixed team snowboard cross at the 2022 Beijing Winter Games. His success is proof that dreams don’t have an expiration date—and neither does the determination to chase them.
As Nick says:
“You’re never too old to do anything. Do it all, keep going —and put your heart into it.”
That message represents everything Nick brings to the mountain: passion, hard work, courage and the belief that when you truly give something your whole heart, incredible things can happen.

Hit the slopes with an Olympic champion and experience the energy and passion that have made Nick an inspiration throughout the Upper Peninsula and beyond. Guests will also have opportunities to take pictures with Nick both on and off the snow.

Meet Nick, get his autograph and have your copy of his memoir, Gold From Iron, personally signed by Nick Baumgartner. The book shares his remarkable journey from growing up in Iron River to standing at the top of the Olympic podium.
A Legendary New Year’s Eve Finale
On December 31 at 9:00 PM, Nick will lead Ski Brule’s spectacular New Year’s Eve Torchlight Parade, followed by a dazzling fireworks display lighting up the mountain and the U.P. night sky!
