I LOVE March! It is hands down the BEST time of year to ride. Sunshine, softer snow and always extra fun!
Well shucks! Timberdoodle, Maple Syrup, Upper Sunrise & Double Doodle were not able to stand up to the 55 degree weather this week. Open/closed status can change throughout the day during this crazy weather BUT no worries, the other trails are open and much easier to maintain so plan your March snow adventure! Night session is closed for the season .. why? Snow management. It takes a lot of snow to push in the Pony Handle Tow path which gets destroyed. The Snow Scientists opted to save the snow and use it to keep Rapids ready to ride!
Ski Brule isn’t giving up and intends to ride right through March! Yes the temps are warm in the day but cold at night which results in little snow loss. Are the conditions ‘normal’ March conditions? Why yes because there is nothing normal about weather in the Upper Peninsula. I remember one March where it was 80 degrees on March 19!! Another March when it was 15 below zero. Let’s not forget about Mother Nature’s good humor of dumping 36″ of fresh powder April 1, 2023. There is NOTHING better than riding with blue skies and sunshine on your face!
This weekend Ski Brule welcomes USSA Brule Championship Races. This is the neatest race. About 130 racers ages 4 to 14 will be racing for the Brule Championship title! There are three races Saturday and two on Sunday and each race is awarded medals 1st-10th place in both boys & girls and in each age class! That’s over 350 medals! Plus Overall Champions will receive trophies 1st-5th place!
The USSA Brule Championships are a ‘Brule Olympics’ for the kiddos. Each racer will receive a goodie bag, daily National Anthem & flag presentation, raffle prizes, FREE hot cocoa at Homestead, FREE tubing ticket at Homestead, Saturday night racer party at Homestead Lodge (marshmallow roast, sleigh ride, tubing, dinner & music) … PLUS bounce houses, face painting & petting zoo! It’s going to be an amazing weekend with friends! CANNOT WAIT!
March 23-24 is Brule Bash weekend! SOOOOOO jammed packed with fun! Ride in costume and your lift tickets are half price, costume contest daily & winner receives a season pass for 2024/25, events throughout the weekend such as Oreo Cookie Race & Penguin races. The super cool extra fun also includes FREE sled dog rides, FREE balloon bending, live music, face painting, petting zoo & bounce houses. Of course the weekend is topped off with attending the Homestead BBQ Dinner, Sleigh Ride, Marshmallow Roast, tubing and live music!
